  • MillROC is a powerful solution for mineral processing plants implemented to improve efficiency and ensure optimal performance sustained over time. It consists of a cloud-based data platform with real-time applications, supported and complemented by performance coaching from specialist industry experts.

MillROC has also developed a series of Focus applications that provide an extension to the continuous optimisation concept. The Focus applications hone in on key unit operations within the client’s circuit to troubleshoot performance and provide recommendations for improvement in a user-friendly format that can be accessed and understood by staff at all levels, from operators to managers.

MillROC clients can access remote real-time consulting from world-leading minerals processing consultants who can view the circuit's live performance dashboard and provide immediate advice and coaching.

The ultimate objective of the MillROC team is to establish an embedded system of continuous improvement that delivers higher levels of performance, lower costs and healthier profit.

  • The crucial advantage of MillROC is built around the principle that having data is one thing, knowing what to do in response to the information being provided is quite another. Ultimately, what sets MillROC apart from our competitors is that we have an active relationship with our clients that focuses on continuous and ongoing improvement. Having data is a great resource, but the interpretation of that data is what really matters.

Our consultants work with the site team to gain the most out of their data. We do this by assessing and benchmarking circuit efficiency and then developing sustainable strategies to optimise performance whilst also meeting the needs of the greater business. We then work closely with site personnel to prioritise and execute those strategies most effectively.

While other products on the market can offer live reporting of circuit performance, MillROC goes several steps further, including:

    • Providing deeper insights into the performance of specific unit operations in the circuit.

    • Giving guidance to the operations team on what they can do next to address any problems or opportunities identified.

    • Giving clients immediate access to offsite minerals consultants anywhere in the world who can view the performance data in real-time and provide instant advice and coaching to the onsite processing team.

  • MillROC is subscription-based and available in a range of optional monthly fixed-priced packages dependent on project requirements and budget.

The initial “baseline” package involves paying for the set-up of the platform to enable it to access the key data points required to measure the Mill’s performance, as well as basic training in system use for the milling team.

Clients can then select a range of scaled-up package-options allowing ongoing access to the platform PLUS a pre-agreed number of consulting hours customised to their unique circumstance and preferences.

Our ultimate objective is to provide sufficient coaching in the initial period of engagement for the onsite team to reach a level of competency that then enables them to confidently “fly solo”. Our experience shows that this can usually be achieved most efficiently if a client starts their optimisation journey at the mid-level subscription to allow sufficient coaching and transfer of operational context within the combined team.

This option also adds value to the processing operation by fast-tracking initial performance improvements through active implementation support from our consultants.

Of course, clients can at any time elect to increase monthly consulting hours as the need arises based on scenarios such as staff turnover requiring new employees to be trained, major operational difficulties or changes in processing targets.

  • First time users of MillROC will get much better value in the longer term if they invest in the specialist advice and coaching of our consultants. Our ultimate objective is that clients WILL be able to “fly solo” and use the MillROC approach with minimal external assistance. But it is a specialist tool, and we generally find that monthly coaching sessions in the initial stages of engagement provide sufficient time for the onsite team to become competent and gain the confidence to get the most out of MillROC on their own. This option also adds value to the processing operation by fast-tracking initial performance improvements identified by the MillROC system through active implementation support from our consultants.

  • Yes. Clients have the flexibility of choosing different service levels and the associated costs on a month-to-month basis. Of course, in crisis situations requiring immediate support to address emerging problems on the circuit, having MillROC installed is a great advantage because our consulting team can immediately begin viewing and analysing data to speed up the response.

  • Capitalising on opportunities to reduce energy use in the milling operations is one of the key drivers of optimising the circuit. This is where MillROC plays a critical role in providing insight into what can be done to drive greater efficiency and productivity for the least possible energy use.

  • The MillROC approach takes a holistic view of circuit optimisation, with throughput being one part of that equation within the constraints of the greater business.

Maximising circuit performance has many influencing factors and the variables are all considered when developing optimisation strategies. Many of our clients have identified increased throughput as one of their primary objectives in employing the MillROC solution and are achieving impressive results.

  • This is one of the great advantages of MillROC because clients have access to remote training and coaching via our online platform, even in times of high staff turnover. MillROC improves the capacity for consistent circuit performance by filling the gap in skills and knowledge, which is immensely important to solving current and future problems.

  • Yes, as well as optimising the performance of crushing and grinding circuits, MillROC has now been upgraded to include flotation or gold extraction. Get in touch to find out more.

  • Yes, the MillROC platform has the capacity, depending on the scope of a client’s data, to link carbon emission reporting to production and to illustrate unit emission efficiencies. Get in touch to find out more.

  • Yes, service and support are an integral part of the MillROC solution, with access to our team of highly experienced minerals consultants as issues arise.

  • Yes, there is the ability to develop customisable pages to allow specific suppliers access to key information that enables them to give better product service and advice. (e.g., MillSlicer)
